Foundations for Success - UNI STU 87
Foundations for Success (University Studies 87), is a one-credit required, online course for all first-year freshmen, featuring dozens of popular faculty and staff on campus, and designed to provide you with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel academically from the very beginning of your college experience. Through this course, you will learn about goal setting, time management, and how to effectively navigate both the campus and the classroom. You will also learn about topics such as academic writing, research, and effective study strategies – all which can serve as the foundation for your academic success throughout your time at UC Irvine.
The course will be delivered entirely online through UCI’s online teaching and learning platform, Canvas, and will be asynchronous, meaning you can complete it at your own pace and on your own schedule.
Six (6) learning modules are required for the course, and additional four (4) should be taken as well to meet the 10 modules requirement. Each module should take approximately 1-1.5 hours of time to complete. This format allows you the flexibility to balance your summer commitments while still engaging with the course material.
Enrollment for this course was closed in August 2025.
If you haven’t yet registered for or completed this course, you must enroll in the Fall Uni Stu 87 course and complete it before the end of the fall term. Failure to complete the course may result in an Incomplete or an F on your transcript.
