Promoting Engagement in the Remote Classroom
Brian Sato, Associate Dean for the Division of Teaching Excellence and Innovation (DTEI), teams up with DTEI directors Andrea Aebersold and Danny Mann to explain some of the things they’ve done to ensure fun and engaging classroom experiences this Fall.
Andrea, Director of Faculty Instructional Development, shares how she’s been working with faculty to create a more interactive learning environment. Faculty are learning how to use technology to facilitate discussions and how to integrate active learning principles into their courses.
Danny, Director of Instructional Development for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars, explains how he’s been working with grad students and postdocs to train them as TAs and instructors. This training helps them assist faculty with the transition to remote teaching while maintaining the engagement and excitement that students expect.
With UCI faculty, TAs, instructors and staff working hard to make the most of the remote environment, students can look forward to the quality education that they deserve.
