From October 20-24, 2025, UC Irvine joined colleges and universities across the country to celebrate National Transfer Student Week. Hosted and organized by the UC Irvine Transfer Student Center (TSC), the campuswide celebration included several events to recognize UC Irvine’s transfer student population and the professional staff who support these students as they transition to life at UC Irvine.

“Celebrating Transfer Student Week is essential to fostering a transfer-receptive culture on campus,” says Adeeva Myers, Program Director for the TSC. “Many transfer students come to UC Irvine feeling they are at a disadvantage due to their short time on campus. This week offers an opportunity for the campus to recognize and celebrate the unique strengths and resilience that transfer students bring to our community, while affirming that they are valued, seen, and supported on our campus.

UC Irvine Transfer Student Week kicked off on Monday, October 20, with a tabling event that invited transfer students to stop by a table situated outside of the TSC and pick up sweet treats, participate in a plant potting activity, and test their luck by spinning a prize wheel. Attendees were also asked to share why they’re proud of being a transfer student and share their journey with the community.

On Tuesday, October 21, the TSC hosted a special edition of their Transfer Tea event series that encouraged transfer students to come together, build community, and make buttons that represent their transfer journey. This event offered a great opportunity for transfer students to meet, share their unique experiences, and learn more about campus support resources.

The highlight of UC Irvine Transfer Student Week was the Transfer Celebration on Wednesday, October 22. Held in the Cross-Cultural Center, the Transfer Celebration featured delicious food, interactive activities, exclusive prizes, and even a photobooth where students could commemorate their experience. Several campus programs and units, like the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, Office of Civic Engagement, and the Counseling Center, also set up informational booths to share the resources and services they offer to support transfer students.

Finally, on Thursday, October 23, UC Irvine Transfer Student Week concluded with a Transfer Talk focused on the topic of Career Assessment. Designed to help transfer students with career prep, this event featured a guest speaker from the Division of Career Pathways who revealed insider secrets to career mapping and offered practical advice to assist students in planning their ideal career paths.

Reflecting on this year’s event, Myers says:

“Transfer Student Week was a great success! This year’s celebration brought our transfer community together in meaningful and impactful ways. There was great engagement this year, with over 200 transfer students in attendance across all of our events.

I would like to say a special thank you to our campus partners, including the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program, Counseling Center, Office of Civic Engagement, Division of Career Pathways, and the Foster Youth Resilience in Education Program, for supporting our events this year. Together, we are making UC Irvine a place where all students belong.”
